The Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Board of Malawi is a Statutory Corporation established under Section 6 of NGO Act Cap (5:05) of the Laws of Malawi with the mandate to register and regulate the operations of NGOs in the country
These are the entities that have an influence on the activities of the NGO Board, these are:
- The Malawi Government
- The General Public
- The Donor Community
- Local and International NGOs
NGO Board provides forms of application for any organization intending to register with it. The requirements are as follows:
- The NGO must have a certificate of incorporation obtained from the office of the Registrar General.
- Copy of Constitution. This consists of guideline that needs to be followed
Non-Profit Organizations that which serve for public benefit.
By Registering with NGO Board of Malawi you become a legal NGO to operate in Malawi.
The NGO is able to access grants that require NGO Board Registration.
The registration facilitates duty free privileges.
Six Months upon completion of the Financial Year.
NGO Board is a regulator of NGOs while NGO’s CONGOMA is a Coordinating Body of NGOs
