ABOUT NGO BOARD OF MALAWI
Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Board of Malawi was established as a statutory Board by an act of Parliament. (Section 6 of the Non-Governmental Organizations Act (Cap 5:05 Laws of Malawi))
Our Mandate is to Register and Regulate the Operations of all NGOs in Malawi Section 18 (1) Act.As a government agency, the NGO Board is under the Ministry of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare.
WHO WE OPERATE WITH (OUR STAKEHOLDERS)
The environment in which we operate is favorable with many perspectives and actors such as the academia, private sector and media. Among the many actors we have the following four key stakeholders within our environment: the Government, NGOs, Communities and Donors
Our Duties & Functions
- Establish and maintain the Register of NGOs, consider and adjudicate upon applications for registry by NGOs and ensure due compliance by NGOs
- Withhold, or suspend or cancel registration of NGOs in the event of failure or refusal to comply
- Determine from time to time incentives applicable to NGOs and provide free access to the NGO Register
- Commission Surveys, Enquires and Research to any matter affecting NGOs
